(a-1)*(a+1) How does the expansion of this thing works?

This is a simple formula:(a-b)*(a+b)= a^2-b^2
And it goes like this for your example: (a-1)*(a+1)=a*a+a-a-1*1=a^2-1^2=a^2-1
